Modular Drone Defence System

Drones represent a serious security risk to major public events, but also to sensitive infrastructures and facilities such as industrial testing grounds, large industrial plants, German Armed Forces properties and correctional facilities. A particular risk is the unauthorized use of such drones for espionage, provocation or even criminal and terrorist purposes.

Since early 2015, ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH, Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG and Diehl Defence GmbH have been cooperating and working intensively on a joint solution to counter these threats.

The resulting modular system solution GUARDION utilizes the most suitable state-of-the-art sensor and effector components on the market, as well as a command, control and situation awareness system of military background.

GUARDION consists of the following components:

The cooperation ensured effective protection against the unauthorized use of drones and thus against an omnipresent security risk during the 2015 G7 summit in Germany. Following its successful debut, the solution ensured the safety of other major events such as the visit of the US President to the Hanover Fair, or most recently the G20 summit in Hamburg in July 2017.

In providing a dynamic and futureproof product lifecycle management, the GUARDION cooperation offers support throughout the entire process, from comprehensive scenario assessment and configuration advice to system integration and interface coordination to after-sales support and beyond. Accordingly, existing and additional electronic components and security infrastructure can easily be incorporated, and therefore all various subsections of mission situations can be effectively and profitably interlinked.

Depending on our clients’ needs, GUARDION thus offers the entire spectrum of services, from enabling initial operating capability with small portable solutions to modular extension to comprehensive mobile or stationary systems for the successful protection of scenarios and premises of all scopes and scales.
